Barbara Mitchell is a mixed media artist who engages color, collage and translucent glazes to her acrylic and encaustic works to create abstract visions out of the everyday . Texture and the dimensional works are what she enjoys doing best and she utilizes string, guaze, tissue papers, fibers and metals….anything that can be found and added to the canvas.

Her work has been displayed at the Nina Haggerty with Arts on the Avenue, CAVA  Gallery, Concordia College and at various other venues with Arts on the Avenue (Eastwood Festival, Deep Freeze, The Carrot Coffeehouse, Kaleido ).

Barbara is an associate member of the Centre D’Arts Visuels De L’Alberta and a member of the Arts on the Avenue.

She currently instructs mixed media workshops for children and adults around Edmonton, Calgary and Camrose, inspiring participants to embark on creative journeys of their own. She welcomes your inquiries or questions and enjoys mentoring the beginning artist.
